Spanish Boy In Istanbul (IV)

Another trip to Istanbul, the city that thanks to work and the wonderful people I work with is becoming my home more that a place to visit. There are a lot of options to do in this amazing and magical city and today I am gonna recommend you the ones for me are a must. Let's start...

The best fish I've ever had is in Rumelihisari Iskele in Bebek by the Bosphorus, with beautiful views of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge.
We normally have a "sushi night" every week and always in SushiCo in Nisantasi, so fresh and delicious sashimi :P

On Saturday night you have to go for dinner to Balikcilar Pazari in Besiktas, a very old fish market surrounded by lots and lots of little restaurants where you can taste delicious fish and famous turkish "tapas" and of course do it with Raki, the typical drink ;)

A good plan for the day is walking around Ortaköy visiting all the stalls with typical crafts and have a break to enjoy a filled big potato ;)

The best köfte (meat balls) served with piyaz (haricot bean salad), in Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi.
I love SALT Gallery in Karaköy and ARTER Gallery in Taksim.

My favourite places to walk and get lost in Istanbul is Karaköy, Galata and Beyoglu... in Beyoglu you have to visit Çivan boutique and get a beautiful shirt ;)

Also visiting the Asian part by boat is highly recommended and come back when it gets dark which make the journey absolutely magical.

Estambul es una ciudad que se está convirtiendo en mi hogar más que un lugar de visita. Hoy quiero recomendaros algunos de los lugares que más me apasionan o inspiran y también donde mejor se come ;) Empecemos...

El mejor pescado lo he comido en Rumelihisari Iskele en Bebek; no sé qué tiene el pescado en Estambul pero sabe como en ningún otro sitio; quizás sea esa mezcla del Mar Negro y el del Mármara... en fin, este restaurante además tiene unas vistas maravillosas al puente de Fatih Sultan Mehmet y está a orillas del Bósforo...increíble.

Nuestras "Sushi nights" siempre son en SushiCo en Nisantasi donde el sashimi es muy fresco y delicioso.

Para el sábado por la noche nada mejor que ir a cenar a cualquiera de los barecillos que rodean el antiguo (y aún en uso) mercado del pescado Balikcilar Pazari en Besiktas y no olvidéis acompañar la cena con la famosa bebida Raki ;)

Un buen plan para el dia es pasear por Ortaköy y comprar alguna artesanía en sus muchos puestecillos y parar a comer una patata con guarnición también a orillas del Bósforo.

Una de mis galerias favoritas está en Taksim y es gratis Arter Gallery y también es digna de visitar Salt Gallery en Karaköy.

Las mejores albóndigas turcas (köfte) servidas con ensalada de judias (piyaz) en Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi.

Mis zonas preferidas de Estambul para pasear y perderme son Karaköy, Galata y Beyoglu (una al lado de la otra). En Beyoglu teneis que visitar la boutique de Çivan y comprar una de sus maravillosas camisas ;)

THE RESIDENCE GALLERY

Last Saturday, the fact of having got my wisdom tooth removed didn't stop me to go to the Opening Shopping Party at The Residence Gallery just in the heart of historic Victoria Park Village. This interesting and quirky gallery "is transforming this month of June into a meat market contaminated with contemporary art" on words of her owner, the powerful and charismatic Ingrid Z. This multifaceted woman which is an artist herself can be proud of have created and space to launch the upcoming artists. Here you can find amazing pieces from exotic, established and scandalously unknown artist. Harry Pye, Emma Watson, Nicola Carter, David Miller...and one of my favourites, Samantha Bull and her rockin' taxidermy mice. 

Have a look the the website as just on top of the gallery you can also rent The Residential Suit and live the secret of real Londoner life. 

So go to The Residence Gallery, buy some affordable art and don't miss the opportunity of meeting the inspiring and phenomenal Ingrid Z.

El Sábado pasado y con las muelas del juicio recién extraídas, me pasé por la inauguración de la Shopping Party en The Residence Gallery en el corazón de la histórica y maravillosa zona Victoria Park. 

Esta curiosa e interesante galería se convierte durante el mes de Junio en "un mercado de carne contaminado con piezas de arte contemporáneo" según las palabras de su propietaria y comisaria Ingrid Z; Ingrid Z, que es una artista ella misma y un personaje digno de conocer, lanza desde este espacio en el Este de Londres a los grandes artistas del futuro: Harry Pye, Emma Watson, Nicola Carter, David Miller...y una de mis favoritas, Samantha Bull y sus "esculturas" de ratones tratados con la técnica de la taxidermia. 

Echa un vistazo a la web ya que sobre la galleria se encuentra The Residential Suit, un espacio que se alquila a modo de hotel privado y que te hará sentir que eres un real londinense de la época victoriana.

Pásate por The Residence Gallery, compra alguna pieza de arte (los precios son increíbles) y sobre todo, conoce a la increíble y poderosa Ingrid Z.

MOXHAM

Couple of weeks ago, I met my dear friend Rena for a business meeting and after that she invited me to a "pop up" store in Covent Garden. It was Moxham's presentation. This jewellery brand really captivated me; the pieces are very chunky and elegant at the same time, so contemporary...I really loved them!! And Madeleine, the designer is absolutely lovely. If I would wear jewellery definitely I would be wearing Moxham as they are so versatile and unique. They are perfect for the day and also for the evening!!!

Hace un par de semanas tuve una reunión de negocios con mi querida amiga Rena y tras la reunión nos fuimos al cocktail en la "pop up store" que la firma de joyas Moxham ha abierto en Covent Garden por unas semanas para presentar su colección. Nunca llevo joyas pero si lo hiciera definitivamente llevaría algo de Moxham; sus diseños tienen ese perfecto equilibrio entre basto y elegante, muy contemporáneos. Madeleine, la diseñadora es majísima además. Hice algunas fotos de las joyas que os muestro aquí, pero si queréis ver la colección completa o incluso comprar algo, pasad por la web ;) No perdais de vista este nombre, MOXHAM.

BIRD CAFE DALSTON

There is a coffee place in Dalston that is becoming the meeting point for some of my "casual" business meetings called Bird Cafe. Very relax, cute decoration and I love the fact that walls and furniture's painting is falling apart and far from giving a careless look, it shows a very natural beauty on the things. The coffee is not the best I tasted but is good, and the handmade bakery and foods are really good. What I like the most it is that people there is very relax and clients normally are not pretentious which now is difficult to avoid in this area. So go to Bird Cafe and enjoy a nice coffee, a "Moms Breakfast Toast" and the good company of a friend, a business party or just yourself ;)

Hay un café en Dalston que se está convirtiendo en el centro de mis reuniones de negocios más "informales", el Bird Cafe. El café no es el mejor que he probado pero no está mal, y las madalenas y los sandwiches están riquísimos. Es un sitio en el que me encuentro muy relajado; la gente que visita este café normalmente no es pretenciosa, lo cual agradezco enormemente, y la decoración es muy peculiar también: muy casera y me hace sentir cómodo el que las paredes o muebles estén desconchados ya que lejos de dar un aspecto descuidado, aporta carácter al local. No lo dudes y ve al Bird Cafe a disfrutar las "Mom's Breakfast Toast" en compañía de un buen amigo, un socio o simplemente tú mism@ ;)
