Un buen amigo ha llegado a última hora de hoy al trabajo para alegrarme más el día y ese alguien además traía algo para mi :)

Esta patiserie francesa fundada en 1842 se ha convertido en una de mis favoritas y estoy totalmente enganchado a los deliciosos macaroons cuyo delicado sabor me hace sentir que estoy comiendo tiernas florecillas...

Ya conocí Ladurée cuando fui a Paris hace dos años por mi cumpleaños, pero en aquel entonces se me escapaba del presupuesto. Ahora, cada vez que puedo me escapo a Ladurée en Harrods a comprame macaroons de rosa (mi favorito) o de pistacho :P

La decoración es absolutamente exquisita y refinada, siguiendo un aire mezcla de Barroco y Neoclásico, muy francés. Y el packaging está cuidadísimo y guarda toda la esencia y el clasicismo del XIX francés.

También hay una diminuta Ladurée en las Arquerias de Bond Street, así que si venís a Londres o ya estais aquí, no priveis a vuestro gusto de estas dulces y delicadas maravillas.

Y no dejeis de visitar la web, es súper chic.

This french patisserie became my favourite one when I met it in Paris when I went two years ago for my Birthday. Actually I couldn´t afford it then as I was quite short of money, but now, everytime I can I go to Ladurée en Harrods to get my delicious rose and pistaccio macaroons :P uuuuuuuuummmmmm

For me eating macaroons is like eating little flowers :)

The decoration is absolutly delicated, style mixed of Barroque and Neoclassic (so very French) and also the packaging very classic and sophisticated.

So if you visit London or you are already here, don´t you deny to your sences the pleasure of eating those little and delicious sweets (there is another tiny Ladurée at the Royal Arcade in Mayfair).

Sabeis lo que, después de llevar más de dos años en Londres aún no tenia?...

You know what after living in London for more than two years I didn´t have yet?

An UMBRELLA!!!!!!

Un PARAGUAS!!!!!!!

Pero estas Navidades, Santa Claus, avisado por mi Inglés, dejó (entre otras muchas cositas ;) una para mi en casa la noche del 24 de Diciembre :)

Y no una cualquiera, si no una auténtica James Smith & Sons!!!!!

Soy de los que piensa (por muy arcaico que suene), que una buena sombrilla hay que comprarla en una auténtica paragüería, unos buenos guantes en una clásica guantería, una buena gabardina en Burberry... ;P así que desde que me vine a Londres me moría de ganas de tener un paraguas de esta mítica casa inglesa que data del 1830 y que aún sigue vendiendo sus artesanales paraguas de manera asombrosa.

Los paraguas y bastones que venden alli son totalmente artesanales, hechos alli mismo a mano y todos llevan la placa metálica con la marca grabada; todo un lujo.

Y yo estoy súper feliz con mi paragüillas de James Smith and Sons, negro con mango de madera natural. Y sabeis lo que más me fascina de él? Que cuando lo abro, la tela cruje de lo gruesa que es, y cuando llueve y caen las gotas sobre el paraguas, el sonido de la interacción es súper profundo e inspirador :)

Asi que no dudeis en conseguir vuestra sombrilla en James Smith & Sons, merece la pena invertir en una pieza única. Además, allí te enseñan cómo cerrarla de la manera más apropiada y cómo secarla y mantenerla para que nos dure mucho mucho y mucho.

Todo mi AMOR para este nuevo año...y ahora sí a disfrutar los dias lluviosos under my umbrella ;)

But this Christmas, Santa Claus (told by my English) left on Christmas Eve one at home for me!! :)

And it was not whatever umbrella, it was an James Smith & Sons one!!!!!

I am among those who think that a good umbrella has to be bought in an umbrellas shop, an amazing pair of gloves in a classic gloves shop, a raincoat at Burberry... ;P so since I came to live to London I wanted to get an original James Smith & Sons umbrella. That shop at New Oxford Street was oppened in 1830 and they keep best selling theirs umbrellas and walksticks, made just there and all of them with the original metal badge with the brand name engraved. And in the shop they will show you how to take care of your umbrella: how to dry it after the rain and how to fold it propperly to make it live for soooo long.

I´m sooo happy with my new black umbrella with wooden handle, and you know what is the most I like about it??? The beautiful sound of the very thick fabric when it rains and I oppen my umbrella :)

So you go and get your own James Smith & Sons, is an investment.

GRUAU VS DIOR

Hace un par de domingos, tras levantarnos un poco más tarde, nos fuimos a desayunar a un café súper Londoner en Liverpool Street, y de ahí nos bajamos al Tamesis atravesando toda la City, absolutamente desierta en domingo; cosa que me encanta, ya que durante la semana las calles de este área están plagadas de business men, pero el domingo... es una maravilla perderse entre los rascacielos y los edificios renacentistas de la zona de Bank o Moorgate (además hacía un sol increible :)

Desde que se inaugurara la exposición de Gruau en Londres deseaba ir pero nunca encontraba el tiempo...

así que cuando mi Inglés y yo ya íbamos paseando por el rio y pasamos por Somerset House sentí que no podía seguir esquivándola.

Fue increible, ver los dibujos de Gruau en persona me emocionó. La exposición se centra en las campañas que preparó para los perfumes de Dior. Ver de cerca los bocetos e imagenes previas, esa bella imperfección del trazo... es un placer y una inspiración únicos. Los textos que acompañan a algunas de las ilustraciones hablan del feeling tan especial que había entre Dior y Gruau, lo bien que conectaban y cómo ambos se vieron fuertemente influenciados por la elegancia de sus aristocráticas madres.

También se exponen algunos trajes de Alta Costura de Christian Dior y de Galliano para Dior.

Sólamente por seis libras podeis trasladaros a un universo de glamour y chic... y con la entrada os darán además un pequeño libro con algunas imágenes y comentarios.

No lo dudeis, de vez en cuando viene bien sumergirse en la decadencia del ayer.

It was two sundays ago when after waking up a little bit later than ususal, we went to have an English Breakfast to that cute and super Londoner coffee at Liverpool Street, and after that, towards the Thames, we walked around the City, completely empty and so relaxed. I love walking around this area on Sundays as during weekdays is so full of business men and people, but on the weekend I love enjoyin the skyscraper and neoclassical buildings on Bank or Moorgate.

I really wanted to go to Rene Gruau´s exhibition about Christian Dior´s parfums since I knew it was in London, but I never had time, so when we bumped into Somerset House during our walk by the river, I couldn´t scape.

Amazing, so beautiful exhibition. It was so emotional to see face to face Gruau´s drawings, the beauty of the imperfection in the outline sketch and that glamour-chic in every single ilustration.

I could read that Gruau and Dior had a very close relationship and both of them were inspired by their aristocratic mothers.

Beautiful and for only 6 pounds (and you will get a little book as well). And you will see couture dresses by Christian Dior and John Galliano for Dior.

So go and live for a few moments the decadence of an era...
