SUNDAY ROAST @ THE ENGLISH RESTAURANT/SPITALFIELDS

The English Restaurant in Spitalfields is becoming the place for me and my English for the Sunday Roast (kind of what paella represents to Spanish people). Even though East London is too busy on the weekends I am too attached to it so I like walking around on Sundays and enjoying the food. The English Restaurant has a very good Roast Beef and I really enjoy there as the space is beautiful, calm and the service is very very good. Also the prices are not bad. Having a walk around the area, explore the markets and enjoying a roast beef in The English Restaurant on a Sunday is just the perfect plan. You'll let me know ;)

The English Restaurant en Spitalfields se está convirtiendo en el sitio por excelencia para tomar el Sunday Roast los domingos (lo que para los españoles sería la paella del domingo). Intento evitar el Este los fines de semana porque está lleno de gente pero la comida en este restaurante me encanta. El sitio es muy acogedor, muy "inglés" y el servicio muy muy bueno. Los precios no están mal y el sitio no se llena de turistas ;P Os recomiendo el plato de ternera (roast beef) con toda la guarnición (patatas y verduras horneadas también). Y una ginger beer ;) el plan perfecto para el domingo: un paseo por el Este o por London Bridge y un Sunday Roast en The English Restaurant de Spitalfields. Ya me contareis ;)

Spanish Boy In Istanbul (IV)

Another trip to Istanbul, the city that thanks to work and the wonderful people I work with is becoming my home more that a place to visit. There are a lot of options to do in this amazing and magical city and today I am gonna recommend you the ones for me are a must. Let's start...

The best fish I've ever had is in Rumelihisari Iskele in Bebek by the Bosphorus, with beautiful views of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge.
We normally have a "sushi night" every week and always in SushiCo in Nisantasi, so fresh and delicious sashimi :P

On Saturday night you have to go for dinner to Balikcilar Pazari in Besiktas, a very old fish market surrounded by lots and lots of little restaurants where you can taste delicious fish and famous turkish "tapas" and of course do it with Raki, the typical drink ;)

A good plan for the day is walking around Ortaköy visiting all the stalls with typical crafts and have a break to enjoy a filled big potato ;)

The best köfte (meat balls) served with piyaz (haricot bean salad), in Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi.
I love SALT Gallery in Karaköy and ARTER Gallery in Taksim.

My favourite places to walk and get lost in Istanbul is Karaköy, Galata and Beyoglu... in Beyoglu you have to visit Çivan boutique and get a beautiful shirt ;)

Also visiting the Asian part by boat is highly recommended and come back when it gets dark which make the journey absolutely magical.

Estambul es una ciudad que se está convirtiendo en mi hogar más que un lugar de visita. Hoy quiero recomendaros algunos de los lugares que más me apasionan o inspiran y también donde mejor se come ;) Empecemos...

El mejor pescado lo he comido en Rumelihisari Iskele en Bebek; no sé qué tiene el pescado en Estambul pero sabe como en ningún otro sitio; quizás sea esa mezcla del Mar Negro y el del Mármara... en fin, este restaurante además tiene unas vistas maravillosas al puente de Fatih Sultan Mehmet y está a orillas del Bósforo...increíble.

Nuestras "Sushi nights" siempre son en SushiCo en Nisantasi donde el sashimi es muy fresco y delicioso.

Para el sábado por la noche nada mejor que ir a cenar a cualquiera de los barecillos que rodean el antiguo (y aún en uso) mercado del pescado Balikcilar Pazari en Besiktas y no olvidéis acompañar la cena con la famosa bebida Raki ;)

Un buen plan para el dia es pasear por Ortaköy y comprar alguna artesanía en sus muchos puestecillos y parar a comer una patata con guarnición también a orillas del Bósforo.

Una de mis galerias favoritas está en Taksim y es gratis Arter Gallery y también es digna de visitar Salt Gallery en Karaköy.

Las mejores albóndigas turcas (köfte) servidas con ensalada de judias (piyaz) en Tarihi Sultanahmet Köftecisi.

Mis zonas preferidas de Estambul para pasear y perderme son Karaköy, Galata y Beyoglu (una al lado de la otra). En Beyoglu teneis que visitar la boutique de Çivan y comprar una de sus maravillosas camisas ;)

RUIDO EN LA COCINA

Few months ago, the stylist, writer, bitch and very good friend of mine, Chusa, came to visit.

We had such a great time and I wanna recommend you today one of the restaurants we went for a casual lunch, Ruido en la Cocina (something like Noise in the kitchen).

If you like French cuisine with influences of different cultures like the Indian one, this tiny local is your restaurant in Coruña. The decoration is very clean and the size of the place makes it very cosy. Beige for the furniture, brown for the floor and glass for walls transmits a peaceful feeling.

The food is quite filling so you can eat just with one dish!! And the price is quite good (for less than 25€ you eat with good wine and dessert). I had a delicious chicken with banana and curry sauce, Ribera del Duero and Tiramissu :P

So you get a comfy outfit and a beautiful company and go to this cute restaurant right in the heart of La Coruña ;)

Hace unos meses el fantástico estilista, peluquero, escritor, dramaturgo y muy buen amigo mio, Chusa, nos visitó en La Coruña.

Uno de los sitios a los que fuimos a tomar un almuerzo relajado tras unas compras fue el restaurante francés que está en Maria Pita, Ruido en la Cocina. Si os gusta la comida francesa con influencias y connotaciones de otras culturas como la India, este es vuestro restaurante.

Su decoración limpia y sencilla y el reducido tamaño del local, lo hacen un lugar muy acogedor. La comida está muy bien y los platos llenan bastante. Por unos 25€ come uno con un buen Ribera y postre.

Yo tomé el pollo con banana y salsa de curry y tiramisú para el postre ;P

Así que ponte cómodo, da un buen paseo y vete a almorzar un sábado con buena compañía a este bonito restaurante en el corazón de La Coruña ;)

NEVER WITHOUT YOU... AND RIVINGTON

Hace tiempo que queria escribir sobre el restaurante que se esta convirtiendo en un referente para mi y mi Ingles: Rivington Restaurant.
Hace casi un año me invito mi Ingles a cenar en mi cumpleaños, y tambien lo visitamos la noche antes de irme a Nueva York asi nos parecio el sitio perfecto para ir hace un par de semanas a celebrar una serie de pequeños y tambien grandes acontecimientos :) (y el regalo de Reyes que nos hizo mi madre :)
El restaurante se encuentra en pleno corazon de Shoreditch en Rivington St. (entre Charlotte St y Old St). Aqui sirven de la mejor tipica comida inglesa de todo Londres, de una calidad excelente, y aunque no es muy barato, tampoco se sale mucho del presupuesto.
El pescado lo traen de Cornwall ;) y he de decir que esta delicioso :P
La decoracion es bastante limpia y elegante, mobiliario de madera muy oscura y manteleria blanca.
Tanto el restaurante como las callecillas que lo rodean son super cool ya que es una de las zonas donde mas estudios de grafica y publicidad se aglutinan en la ciudad (y a solo 15 minutos de mi casa ;)
Los chicos que os atienden son super majos y no dudaran en cambiaros el plato si no os gusta lo que habeis pedido.
Otra de las cosas que me gustan es que de las paredes cuelgan obras de diferentes artistas, un aliciente mas para asistir a este local: arte y buena comida, y por supuesto... buena compañia :)

I wanted to tell you about this beautiful restaurant which is becoming very important for us, the Rivington Restaurant at Shoreditch.
Almost one year ago my English took me here for dinner in my Birthday, and the night before I went to new York we came here too; so couple of weeks ago we decided to come to celebrate little and important things :) (and to use my mother Christmas present for us ;)
This is one of the best English restaurants, the food is amazing quality and the seafood and fish comes from Cornwall ;)
It is not cheap at all but is not crazy expensive either.
The Rivington is located in one of the coolest areas of the city where lots of graphic and publicity studios are based (only 15 minutes from home ;)
The staff is very nice and they will change your menu if you don't like what you ordered.
Its decoration is gorgeous, very clean and elegant, very dark furniture and white tablecloths, and the walls are decorated with art from different artist. So what else can you ask for? Good food, service, beauty and of course, good company :)
