SPANISH BOY BACK IN LONDON...

...pero sólo por un par de dias...
Hace un mes tuve  la oportunidad de darme una escapadita a Londres (¡¡cómo lo necesitaba!! No iba hacía seis meses!! Y aunque mi Inglés no me pudo acompañar, pude disfrutar mucho ;). Y me di cuenta de que aunque siempre se quiere más, tres dias en Londres pueden dar para mucho.
Os voy a mostrar un poco lo que hice esos dos días y medio en Londres, a ver si os inspira y os ayuda a organizar una escapada bien programada ;)
Lo primero que hice cuando llegué a Liverpool St Station (mi antigua parada de metro :), fue irme corriendo al pret-a-manger de Bishopgate a comerme un classic super club!!! :) Pret-a-manger es perfecto para un snack. De ahí me fuí a Bricklane no sin antes pasar por Tesco a comprar una botella de agua Evian y recargar mi teléfono inglés (cómo echo de menos todo... y a todos, por supuesto). Aproveché para pasear por Spitalfiels y Bricklane (zonas muy inspiradoras) mientras llegaba Miguel.
Y cuando llegó, nos fuimos directos a Hoxton Sq donde comimos en Macondo Café un delicioso salmón con espinacas y patatas al horno (muy rico, y con vino fueron unas £20 cada uno; Miguel comió risoto con frutos del mar, creo). Como estábamos allí, decidimos pasar por la White Cube Gallery (no dejeis de ir a esta pequeñísima pero siempre interesante galería de arte) y ver la nueva exposición que se ve en un momento y además es gratis. Caminad por los alrededores y os encontrareis con inesperadas galerías como la Standpoint Gallery, en el 45 de Coronet St donde habís una exposición que me encantó de Jemima Brown: hiperrealistas esculturas humanas en miniatura y en tamaño real pero tratadas a su vez con un surrealismo que las hacía totalmente apetecibles de ver y de tocar!! (Gratis tambien!!).
Una siestecita en casa para tomar fuerzas después del viaje y nos dirigimos al George & Dragon para tomar una cerveza (o varias) antes de ir a cenar y sobre todo recordar tantos buenos momentos e historias que todos hemos vivido en este pub. Con diferencia, mi sitio favorito de London :)
Fui a cenar con los chicos a un vietnamita en Kingsland Road (os recomiendo el Sông Quê Cafe, riquísima la comida y súper bien de precio). (Pablo tomó fotos bastante "sospechosas" en esta cena :S).
Y después de las cervezas y la cena, nada mejor que rematar la noche con unos bailoteos en el Joiners ;) muchas historias también... (intentad ir antes de las 12am si no quereis hacer colas interminables).
El sábado me di el capricho de levantarme algo más tarde (un poco antes de las 10, que eso es ya un lujo!!), y nos fuimos Miguel y yo a Chelsea para visitar mi paraiso... Marni. Allí vi a mis antiguos compañeros y amigos, y me di un caprichito que quería desde hace tiempo ;)
Almorzamos con Alvaro en Ottolengui, la comida está deliciosa, aunque es un poco caro, la verdad (de vez en cuando hay que darle un capricho al paladar :P). Os recomiendo la ternera laminada y acompañadla con unas judias finitas y queso de cabra y calabaza asada, uuuuummmmm :)
Y después de la comida y la visita a Marni, a endulzarse con unos macarons en La Durée de Burlington Arcade en My Fair, (deliciosos el de rosa y el de pistacho).
Pasad por Burberry a ver la colección de abrigos y por Jil Sander (únicos para inspirarse).
Esa noche cenamos en un francés, el Montmartre Bistrot en Angel un chuletón de ternera con patatas fritas, muy rico ;)
Y una cervecita de nuevo en el George and Dragon más encuentros con los friends :)
Y al día siguiente, lo que hicimos fue bajar a Spitalfield, Bricklane y cerca del Flower Market (lo mejor para la mañana de un domingo), para pasear y hacer tiempo hasta que salía mi vuelo de vuelta...
Un fin de semana muy completo, lleno de comida rica, sitios bonitos, pero sobre todo y lo más bonito de todo fue el encontrarme con mis amigos, con la gente que tanto quiero y tanto echo de menos en mi Londres.

...but just for few days...
Last month I had the chance of going to London for a long weekend (we left six months ago already!! And I miss it soooo much) and even tho my English couldn´t come with me I enjoyed it so much ;).
I would like to share with you the beautiful places you can visit on a weekend in London to make it so very special. Maybe not very comercial but charming and quality ones.
So... lets start!! ;)
When I landed and the bus dropped me on my old tube station (Liverpool St) I run into the pret-a-manger (this chain is the best for a snack, I love the Super Classic Club sandwich). Then I went to Tesco to top up my English phone and get some Evian water.
After that and meantime I was waiting for Miguel, I walked around Spitalfield and Bricklane (my old streets where I get very inspired by people and architecture). When Miguel arrived, we went to Hoxton Square for lunching at Macondo Cafe where you can have a delicious grilled salmon with spinach and baked potatoes and a glass of red wine for around £20.
After lunch, it´s perfect going to an exhibition like the one in the White Cube Gallery (tiny but very interesting always). Walk around the neighborhood and you could bump into cute little galleries such Standpoint Gallery (45 Coronet St) where we enjoyed Jemima brown´s art.
Little nap at home and then a beer at the George and Dragon, the best pub bar in London, my favourite place ever, full of histories for all of us :)
Then, dinner at any of the vietnamese restaurants in Kingsland Road (I love the Sông Quê Cafe: good food and amazing prices).
And nothing better than ending the night dancing at the Joiners!! ;P
The day after is nice to get up late (not after 10am), wear a comfy shoes and go down to Chelsea for shopping. I had lunch with Alvaro and Miguel in Ottolengui Belgravia, I love the food there but I have to say is a little bit expensive (sometimes we have to treat ourself though). I had beef with green beans, goat cheese and pumpkin, yummi!!
And after lunch... I went into my paradisse in London... Marni. Where I could see my old workmates and friends. I treated myself too with something I wanted for long time ;)
After eating and shopping, the best is a delicious macarons from Laduree.
Up to My Fair, Jil Sander and Burberry are good shops to get inspiration (buy if you can afford it).
Little nap and dinner at the Montmartre Bistrot in Angel Islington.
The day after, and few hours before my plane, I walked around East London (Flower Market, Bricklane...) just to feel my old neighborhood environment again maybe just to recharge.
I hope you like the plan, I think this plan is perfect for a weekend in London. But the most important thing for me was seeing my friends and people I love so much there... thank you all...

DRIES VAN NOTEN

La pureza en las líneas, los limpios volúmenes y el buen uso del tejido y los prints es lo que hace de Dries Van Noten una de las firmas más interesantes, bellas y actuales que existen ahora mismo. Su última colección para el verano de 2012 me ha fascinado. Como siempre, sutil y elegante, jugando con los volúmenes de una manera totalmente favorecedora a la silueta femenina. Los prints fotográficos son un fuerte detonante de la colección, adaptados de las fotografías de James Reeve que muestran siluetas de ciudades iluminadas en la noche.
Un magnifico y actual guiño a la Alta Costura española de los 50s se puede ver claramente en los bordados artesanales típicos de los trajes de torero y los volúmenes de las faldas muy Cristobal Balenciaga.
Me gusta la delicadeza y la sobriedad de las líneas de Dries Van Noten, el maravilloso juego de insinuar sin dejar ver, estética relajada y actual pero elegante e interesante al mismo tiempo. Conceptual y personal, asi es Dries Van Noten.

I just consider Dries Van Noten as one of the most actual, beautiful and interesting labels nowadays. His collection for next summer 2012 is just amazing. Using the pictures of James Reeve as prints on beautiful garments of subtle silhouettes and new fabrics, he creates that atmosphere of relax and elegant at the same time. This collection mix Spanish style embroidery and Cristobal Balenciaga´s shapes in a masterly way making those 50s details absolutely actual. The simplicity of his lines and the way he uses the volumes makes me love more and more that label which inspires me so much.

CUTE RENA

Yesterday I found with my sketches this beautiful and cute card my friend Rena made for me when I left London. It´s sooo cute, I love the prints and the way se sees me :) (It´s me and she on the card).

When I look at those little things I cannot stop thinking how lucky I am because of my friends.

Este finde, rebuscando en mi carpeta de bocetos, encontré esta tarjeta que mi amiga Rena me hizo como despedida de Londres. No os parecen súper bonitos los colores y los prints que ha elegido? (Todo arte). Y me encanta la manera tan mona en que me ve (Los muñequitos somos Rena y yo).

MARNI

No puedo dejar de hablaros de la última colección de Marni para el próximo verano 2012. Una vez más fiel a su personal estilo, Marni se va reforzando temporada tras temporada, posicionándose como una de las marcas referentes a nivel internacional (esto me asusta un poco, esperemos que no caiga en la globalización extrema). Creo que Marni está cada vez más cerca de convertirse en lo que Prada es hoy en dia: una firma que crea tendencia, que se sale de la norma pero es admirada precisamente por ese personal toque que no hace sino embellecer de manera sutil, que te cautiva al mirarlo por la simplicidad de sus formas que de cerca esconden esa complejidad casi inapreciable que sólo los grandes pueden conseguir.
La silueta y el estilo de esta nueva colección son muy claros: líneas absolutamente puras que insinúan de una manera no explícita, atmósfera naïf y aires de burguesía moderna.
Una vez más volúmenes y detalles de la más preciosa Alta Costura de los 50s. La geométrica manera de posicionar los ricos y bastos bordados en las prendas, como si de planos de arquitectura se tratasen, les confiere a estas joyas un aire actual y cercano, nada obsoleto que podríamos denominar como el "nuevo-lujo-chic".
Colores y líneas puros, riqueza de tejidos, limpia silueta y aire cargado de sexy ingenuidad, estos serían los puntos más fuertes de una colección y una firma que no hacen sino embellecer a la mujer y con ello, al mundo.

I cannot stop telling you about the new Spring/Summer 2012 Marni collection. Once again, true to its peronal style, Marni is reinforced itself season after season ranking as one of the strongest international reference labels (something that scares me a little bit, hopefully it won´t fall into the extreme globalization). I think Marni is getting closer to becoming what Prada is today: a company that creates trends, which is beyond the norm but is admired precisely for that personal touch of subtly embellish, captivating you to for the simplicity of their forms that hide the complexity of almost negligible that only the big creators can reach. The shapes and style of this new collection are very clear: very pure lines that hint in an absolutely non-explicit way, naive atmosphere and air of modern bourgeoisie.
Once more volumes and details of the most precious Haute Couture of the 50s. The geometric way of positioning the rich and coarse embroidery on garments, as if it were architectural plans, gives to these gems an actual and close air not obsolete at all that we could call the "new-luxury-chic".
Pure lines and colors, craftsmanship, rich fabrics, clean silhouette and sexy ingenuity, those would be the strongest points of a collection and label which not only beautify the woman but also the world.
